RASKA BIO
My name is Martin Raska and I am a freelance marketer with more than 15 years experience in communications - including Web and multimedia, traditional print marketing, copywriting and editing, high school and college instruction, and translating and interpreting.
I offer a variety of marketing services from creative conceptualization, graphic design, and page layout, to Web programming, content development, database management, and traditional print collateral. Other value-added services include, but are not limited to, domain name registration, search engine optimization, current site analysis, copywriting and editing, and marketing analysis.
Over the years, I have developed and maintained good professional relationships with vendors and clients throughout the Northeast Ohio region, engaging a no-nonsense, down-to-earth, and respectful attitude, while employing an honest and unyielding work ethic.
Throughout my professional career, I have utilized strong organizational and interpersonal skills - be it in the newsroom, the classroom, or the boardroom. I work well independently, almost as well as part of a team, but have the most experience constantly switching between the two.
Career-wise, I've been working in the IT department at the School of Law at CWRU since Fall 2007. There, I help maintain the school's Website, intranet, and ancillary sites. Before, I spent 7+ years working as a Certified Web Developer at a multimedia firm in Cleveland, Ohio. Prior to that, I worked in various positions in communications, including as Senior Copywriter, Web Editor, Sports Editor, and Copy Writer.
My international experience includes translating and interpreting work for the state TV company and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Slovakia during the early 1990's. My teaching experience features Web development instruction at Magnificat High School and Cuyahoga Community College, and journalism instruction at Ohio University.
My educational background: I am currently in the MBA program at CWRU's Weatherhead School of Management. Bachelor's in Journalism from Ohio University (1993), Web Development Certification from John Carroll University (2001), college prep degree from Orange High School (1988).
